ATHENA I was watching Odysseus struggle on his journey. He had encountered many things. He was so tired, just wanting to go home. He returned home to Ithica, 20 years after he had left. Odysseus changed into an old man, but still could be recognized to many, he needed help. I met Odysseus at Ithica upon his return, and offered to help him. I turned him into peasant, so he wouldn’t be seen in his true form. Odysseus worried that if he came back, people would try to kill him. They would try to kill him from leaving and not returning for a very long time, and there was one dilemma that he would have to face that if people knew who he truly was he would definitely be killed. That is why I helped him. I traveled with him through his town, we stopped at his previous servants house for a while, Odysseus talking to him and being glad that he can see his servant yet the man being his loyal friend as well. Odysseus said goodbye and we were on our way to Odysseus’ home. He arrived and was welcomed by tons of suitors trying to ask his wife Penelope, her hand in marriage. He was still in his disguise when he entered the room. Later on, Penelope developed a challenge that Odysseus, still disguised as a beggar, won. I see Odysseus and the triumph in his eyes, he had defeated the suitors in the challenge and can stay married to Penelope, for Penelope’s words say that “whoever wins this challenge, may ask me hand in marriage, and I will accept.” The battle was far from over though, the suitors got angry at him and started to attack him. I helped him again and changed him back into his old form, but this time, I turned him into a muscular, strong man. He had the look of a 20 year old and the strength to be able to defeat an entire army. When I changed him back Penelope was very shocked and surprised. The battle began and Odysseus started to fight. I watched over him, making sure that he was ok, Me being the goddess of wisdom and battle strategy, I had to help. The battle was won by Odysseus, with my help, the suitors were defeated. I am happy that I was able to support and help Odysseus, and I will always come to him again if he needs me or help. This is the one big event that I will never forget. I feel, even as a goddess, very honored that I got to help Odysseus. I had saved the life of a man and helped him to win a battle, which of course was my favorite part. Odysseus will be the one of the unique type person that I got to help because his story was very interesting. I was glad to see Odysseus go through his journey and face some of the hardest challenges, even without my guidance and help. I will never forget this story.
